If you have visited Macintosh Island on the Gold Coast, you may have had the chance to witness the local peacocks wandering through the park grounds and perching on trees.
 
As someone who admires the elegance and regal appearance of these birds, I was inspired by a striking photograph of a peacock and peahen resting on a pandanus tree. My aim was to convey the majesty of these creatures through loose, yet realistic brushstrokes and vibrant hues.
To create a sense of depth, I pushed the background pandanus tree into the distance with abstract brushstrokes, while still capturing the warmth of the sun filtering through the branches. I used mixed media to create a tactile texture, allowing the viewer to experience the raw materials of the tree trunk. If you examine the artwork closely, you will notice an underwriting of romantic words that served as my inspiration. Overall, my goal was to create an inviting and calming atmosphere that showcases the beauty of these magnificent birds.
